During her course of study, Eliada took a module on the Psychology of Exceptional Children, where she gained a deeper understanding of developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), externalizing disorders such as oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder, as well as internalizing disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Eliada obtained her diploma in Early Childhood Education from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2013. As part of her field practicum coursework and together with her project mates, she conducted a workshop for parents on ‘Brain Food for Children’, created a take-home kit for parents to utilize at home, and created a math flash game for Kindergarten 1 children. She also worked with children from varied backgrounds, including children with special needs, and insight into how mainstream preschools can create an inclusive environment for children with special needs.

Eliada was also full-time childcare practitioner before pursuing her degree in Psychology. She prepared and conducted lessons for the Pre-Nursery as their class teacher, updated their monthly progress reports, and maintained regular communication with parents. Shortly before the end of her stint as a teacher, Eliada also worked with a child who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She worked closely with the child and his parents to address his needs. Her experience with this child sparked her passion for serving children in the special needs community, and reinforced her firm belief that children with special needs require quality support and care as they move through their formative years.
