Chermin Huang

Chermin is highly enthusiastic about her field of study and plans to do a Masters in counseling in the future.
During her studies in Raffles College of Higher education, She has volunteered with students from different age levels at St’. Andrews Autism Centre(SAAC) in a classroom setting as a voluntary class support assisting the students in daily classroom activities such as table top tasks, excursions, co-curricular activities and other administrative tasks needed during the duration of her volunteer work at St’. Andrews Autism Centre.

Chermin also has past experience of working with children with special needs. She has previously worked as an assistant teacher in Integrated International School, where she has been exposed to children from a wide range of backgrounds and has worked with children with ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, sensory processing disorder as well as prader-willi syndrome and obtained a certificate in non-violent crisis intervention. She has been in the school/ classroom setting to assist the main teacher with the teaching supplementary academic subjects such as art and social studies, administrative tasks and daily activities in the classroom. She also has two years of prior experience in shadow teaching for 4 children from the ages of 3-8 in the kindergarten and grade one levels in the International school setting such as Stamford American International School(SAIS), International School of Singapore(ISS) The Blue House, and Eton house International School respectively and is familiar with the methods needed to successfully manage their behaviors. She strongly believes in enabling children with special needs to live up to their full potential by working as a team towards the goals of the focus student being self-motivated and regulated, and that interventions are the key to doing so.
