Stacy Tan

She is highly passionate about her field of study, particularly in the aspect of child development and early intervention. She believes in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all children and hopes to apply what she has learnt in her course to help children in need.

In addition to her studies, Stacy is actively involved in her church’s children ministry through serving as a class teacher, teacher assistant and mentor to kindergarten and primary school children. Through this, she has had opportunities to interact and work with children with various special needs, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She ensures that these children are not left behind or left out in lessons and activities.

Additionally, Stacy has also worked as a swimming coach, teaching children and adolescents swimming and life-saving skills. Having interacted with children of diverse dispositions, learning styles and abilities, she has developed patience in handling children, as well as flexibility in catering to their individual needs.

Lastly, Stacy also has relevant volunteering experiences with children. She has worked with Calvary Community Care, teaching underprivileged children literacy skills. Her time spent with these children has helped her understand the various tools needed to engage and motivate children, thus inculcating the love for reading to the beneficiaries.
